Thank you for choosing Classics & Muscle Cars Restorations (CMC) to beautify your automobile. It is our desire that the process of restoring your car will be an enjoyable and satisfying one for us both.
FYI – we reserve the right to use photos of work performed on your vehicle for marketing our brand. If you wish to remain anonymous please let us know on this form or by email.
In order to provide guidance for the process of restoring automobiles for our customers the following policies have been developed to minimize ambiguities during the restoration.
1.) Because of the comprehensive nature of the restoration process, “estimates” or “bids” of the total cost of a restoration project cannot be given at any time. You stating a “target,” or “budget” verbally, or in writing, will be our goal but we cannot be “held” to this number as it is a “projection” only. We can make adjustments and try to stay within it but doing so could certainly compromise the finished result. It is most important that this be understood and accepted before proceeding. Doing custom quality work inherently and almost inevitably will incur increased costs, many unforeseen, as most projects performed are “one-off.” Experience is not an “all-seeing eye” which can foresee areas yet uncovered that may harbor excessive damage or new problems. These are ONLY revealed once we get there. Nor do preconditions have a predetermined outcome. Bolts strip, parts break, new or aftermarket parts often require modifications and the materials we encounter are 50 years old or older. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WHEN YOU ASK US TO “DO THINGS” THERE IS ALWAYS A COST INVOLVED. Any “gratis” must be agreed to in writing. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
IMPORTANT: CMC will target the category or Level you select according to your desire and BUDGET. Click on the CMC website link /Budget Level if you have not yet decided or need guidance. There, you will find Class 1 to 6. Each has a target with an associated cost.
2.) A $5,000.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of the signing of this agreement prior to having the car shipped/delivered to our facility to await the commencement of the work to be done.
3.) Additionally, $4,750.00 to $9,500.00 to be applied toward labor which equates to two work weeks for one worker (70 hours) at shop rate of $135.00/hour, is required in order to place your vehicle on our calendar. This funding will be applied to work performed and parts and materials consumed until it is depleted. Additional funding will be required once the account is worked down to $2,500.00 or less, the deposit being drawn upon as needed. This system of placing funding & drawing is used throughout the course of the restoration, until the completion of work. If you feel your schedule will be burdened by this funding and draw process, please consider funding a larger amount, or to get a funding discount.
4.) Invoices reflecting work performed and the amount of your account used will be emailed on or about every 140 Hours of labor performed (or per 70 if job looks to be less than 140). In the event of a balance due on your account, additional work will wait for the new funding. In the event of a customer causing a “hold” on work, a $100.00 per day storage fee will be assessed until new funds are received, or a decision is made, or if funding to allow further draws has lapsed after account was depleted.
A photo and/or video record of work performed for the month will be provided at the end of each month or four week period. These digital photos & videos will be available along with a link to view them provided to you.
5.) Restoration charges apply to “time and materials”. Quality, comprehensive restorations of classic automobiles take time, and will be expensive. Time spent on projects is documented by a journal. A list of parts and materials used within the billing cycle is included in the invoice. This is why no completion date is offered.
Invoices will include an item titled generically as “Shop Supplies”, which will include such items as cleaning solvents, rags, sealant, tape, paper, etc. These items are impossible to quantify, but are clearly related to the cost of restoration. This cost will be 2% of the labor cost of the current invoice, with the average charge being $10.00/day. All parts, materials, and sublet work will be marked up at a flat rate of 30% to cover transportation and administrative costs.
6.) Insurance on the vehicle while in possession of Classics & Muscle Cars Restorations is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle.
7.) The customer may at any time remove the vehicle upon payment of all outstanding invoices. Vehicles are not released until account balances are paid in full.
8.) If you have any questions or concerns about the Service Agreement for Classics & Muscle Cars Restorations, please feel free to contact us at (808) 829-3800.
